2. Show Celebrations Intro PowerPoint
- Discuss how music is often part of celebrations
- Ask students to name any celebrations / holidays / special occasions
- Each student gets a turn holding a pumpkin.
- Chant poem (talking voice) – I point to each student as we say each number
- Another student turn off light
- At end, 5 pumpkins go hide
4. Dreidel Song – we practice singing to prepare for All-School Winter Sing-Along
- Hands behind back for verses (to prepare for drum playing next time)
- For refrain, clap pattern

3. Celebrations - listen to sounds of each special occasion - see if they can guess which sound belongs to which picture
4. Dreidel Song - add gathering drum
- Ask, "What holiday is this song celebrating?" (Hanukkah)
5. Five Fat Turkeys - Ask, "What holiday is this song referring to?"
- Choose a few students each time - in bubbles, acting out different moods while all
students sing expressively
- Sing softly - in case the cook is still looking for the turkeys
- Sing loudly - as if the turkeys are bragging about having escaped the cook
- Sing slowly - as if the turkeys are tired because they didn't sleep very well

- Pick 5 students to walk in different ways:
- loud and proud
- soft and scared
