"Check Yourself" Formative Assessment

Summative vs. Formative Assessment - it's all the rage. For more reading on the subject, here's an article. Basically, formative assessments are like practice. Formative assessments are actually learning tools, and it encourages students to take more responsibility for their own learning.

I created some "Check Yourself" activities with the older grades. We spend the last 5-10 minutes of some of the lessons (especially before a written assessment), and I put the questions up on a PowerPoint. The students wrote down what they knew, and then we would check their answers. They are allowed to help each other.
