This is a fun song that teaches singing skills (high and low) and following rules of a game (taking turns, etc). On my class list, I mark a small "B" next to the name of the students who have had a turn being the blue bird. Otherwise, there can be arguing. At the beginning of the year, I have the kids sing this song for a few minutes each day until all students have had a turn. Later in the year, I bring it out again. Teacher note: practice not singing with the students once they know it really well. It's good for the kids to become musically independent.
